I'm Barbara, owner of Wise Wolf Creative. I'm a marketing consultant in Seattle, Washington and I'm here to help you tell your story and take your digital presence to the next level, all while remaining true to your brand.
I'm a passionate storyteller and communicator striving to make a difference in my community. With more than nine years of experience in results-driven communications, I have had the privilege of working across sectors (agency, nonprofit, philanthropy, private business) and with a variety of stakeholders, including executives, media, community leaders and members, activists, Academy Award-nominated documentary filmmakers, and more. I love what I do.
I consider myself lucky to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and enjoy taking advantage of everything it has to offer with my partner and our two dogs. In my free time you'll often find me hiking, kayaking, camping, honing my photography skills, throwing the frisbee at the dog park, working hard to keep my vegetable garden alive, or cuddled up with my nose in a book. Let's be real—there's some Netflix bingeing thrown in there, too.
I will build your strategy road map, including, but not limited to, conducting industry research, helping you identify your brand, and developing your communications strategy.
STORYTELLING & WEB DESIGN
Whether you need someone to help you tell your story on social media, through email and newsletters, on print materials, or via your website (or all of the above!), I'm your gal.
I offer editing and proofreading services for any written content, including websites, social media posts, blog posts, articles, tutorials, presentations, books, resumes, and more.
I love using my skills to support the mission and vision of my clients, and cultivating sincere relationships while offering valuable content that remains on brand. I take pride in being a person who "keeps the trains running," driving innovation and efficiency while ensuring timelines are met and projects exceed expectations.
I love a good story that creates beautiful content from complicated information. Whether it's a national campaign or a conversation between peers, authentic communication can move mountains. Throughout my career I have deliberately sought opportunities that allow me to have a thorough understanding of the communications landscape: writing and editing, editorial strategy and development, content management, building and maintaining websites, relationship building, community engagement, social media, marketing, and establishing and learning from analytics...to name a few.
Below you'll find examples of this varied skill set, though the list is certainly not exhaustive.
If you like what you see, let's connect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have any knowledge of my industry?
Possibly! I have worked in a variety of fields, some of which are personal passions of mine, and others are simply things I am now interested in because I had the pleasure of working on those subjects for my clients. Here are some examples: outdoor retail, public health, book marketing, environmental sustainability, local cuisine, LGBTQ+ rights, podcasting, and more.
Why hire a freelancer like you?
I have over 9 years of experience in marketing and communications with small nonprofits, large corporations, individual small-business owners, and foundations. I know how to tell anyone's story in a voice that is unique to you, your business, and your goals. Because of my work in marketing strategy, whether you hire me to build a digital strategy, write or edit for you, or build your website, I will always approach my work with your objectives and goals in mind. I work out of my home office and have minimal overhead, so I can pass those cost savings on to you along with my personal one-on-one attention.
Can you provide a free sample of your work?
No, but you're welcome to browse my portfolio for examples of what I can do. If you are interested in working with me, use the form below to get in touch and we can talk more about your project. If you'd like to test me to create specific examples of how I might approach your project I can do so for a small consulting fee.
Will I need to sign a contract to work with you?
Yes. Contracts for freelance work protect us both and will ensure we are both on the same page in terms of expectations, deliverables, fees, and due dates.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. If we are working together long-term, the first month is due up front, with the remainder billed on the last day of each month with net-15 terms. If we are working on a short-term project together, 50% of the agreed upon fee is due at the start of the project with the remaining 50% billed upon completion of the project and billed on net-15 terms.
I need help ASAP...are you free?
Possibly! Current clients always receive priority, but I am always open to discussing new projects. If I happen to be booked up I can often squeeze you in with a rush fee added to your invoice if your timeline requires me to work outside my regular business hours.
Do you work with small business or big companies?
Both..and everything in between! That's the magic of being a freelancer. I am agile and experienced with a wide spectrum of businesses. I love working with small business, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs, but I also love working with big companies and foundations. They each come with their own unique pros and challenges, and that's part of the fun!
What is your hourly rate?
My rate changes, depending upon your specific needs and circumstances. If we are working on a long-term or large project I prefer to bill an agreed upon flat fee as that is easier and more beneficial to both of us in the long run. Contact me below to share more about your project to find out more.
